To proceed to launch a kite foil we should consider several factors which will help us to achieve our goal. Kite foils are a special type of kites that don’t need a pump to fill the kite of air.
Kite foil is made of some special fabrics of minimal porosity which allowes the air to be directly in contact with the cloth, as opposite on the tube kites.
On this second type of kites the air must be pumped into a latex bladder and maintained into the bladder through a valve which we must close thanks to a stopper cap.
In the photos above we can see how a tube kite must be pumped, while a kite foil gets filled by the same wind.

KITE FOIL SOLO LAUNCHING
Kite foils type don’t need the help of an assistant though in strong winds it may be welcome in order to check that launching takes place correctly
Kite foils can be self launched in 110 degrees to the direction where wind is going or 70 degrees to the incoming wind. Always you should choose your position for launching looking to place yourself the further from any obstacle.
LAUNCH AT KITE LESSONS
One of the best advantages of a kite foil is that it can be launched from the water as we don’t need any pumping. The air will gradually but surprisingly fast will fill the kite and if secured by two assistants it can be launched straight in the middle of the wind window directly from the water.
In case of stronger breeze instead of the center of the wind window -180 degrees- the kite foils can also be launched at an angle of 110 degrees. This, considering that we are launching directly from the water, if on land, at the beach, choose always the launch at 100-110 degrees to the direction where the wind is going.

LAUNCH OF A KITE FOIL STEP BY STEP
1.- Extend your kite, anchoring the upwind tip with sand.
2.- Position yourself at an angle of 110 degrees.
3.- An assistant can help, making sure that the downwind tip takes wind correctly.
4.- Pull the downwind side line until the kite start flying.
